One of the key aspects of Karimia Institute’s work is around education. Islam places a high value on education, therefore we have a variety of classes that run throughout the year at our sites, which help individuals learn and develop themselves.
We have organised classes across all of our sites where children come daily to learn how to read the Glorious Quran and learn the basics of Islam. In these classes’ children are taught the reading of Arabic, Islamic morals and manners as well as basic theology, fiqh rulings regarding cleanliness and praying as well as the rights of parents and neighbours. Children are also encouraged to memorise short surahs with translation, duas and tajweed rules.
Memorising the entire Quran is a dream many Muslim parents have for their children. After children are enrolled in a Hifz class, our teachers encourage and teach him with great love and care. When children are taught by someone with these characteristics they reach heights they may have never imagined. Whoever memorises the Quran and acts upon it, Allah will reward him and honour him greatly, he will rise in status in Paradise to a level equal with what he memorised of the Book of Allah.
Hifz classes have been set up for those children who wish to memorise the entire Quran. These classes are held across all of our sites, making a total of around 100 students all together. Only the best children are selected from our Quran classes and are encouraged to do Hifz because of the commitment and seriousness required. Every year we have around 10 children completing the memorisation of the entire Quran.
Islamic Studies Classes
We run classes specifically for teenagers on the weekend, we teach them what they need to know about their deen. This year we introduced the iSyllabus course. This course is taught using a workbook that students fill in throughout the lesson. Each lesson is packed with activities, discussion topics and questions to engage learners. We use modern teaching methods to ensure students make the most of each session, each lesson has an accompanying lesson plan, worksheets, handouts and presentation.
We have arranged tutorial classes and revision classes for 11-16 year olds with professional and experienced teachers teaching children English, Maths and Science up to GCSE level as well as a personal development programme, which runs throughout the year. The aim of the tutorial classes is to help pupils to learn effectively, enhance pupil’s attainment, develop pupil’s confidence, raise pupil’s expectations and develop pupil’s morality and spirituality.
These classes are run on the weekend to teach children to read and write Urdu, advanced pupils are encouraged to take Urdu as a GCSE. We believe it is important for children to learn their mother tongue as this will help them to understand their culture and learn about their heritage. These classes are taught by teachers who have a deep understanding of the language. Emphasis is not only given to reading and writing but speaking too.
Our Adult classes give mature learners the chance to increase their knowledge and learn about their deen in a relaxed environment. We believe education is for everyone. We arrange various classes for adults in Arabic and Islamic Studies across all of our sites. These classes are attended by both men and women. Classes are taught to a recognised level and some are even accredited. Students are awarded certificates upon completion.
Established in 2002 and Ofsted registered, Zaytuna nursery is for 2-5 year olds. Starting with a small number of children, the nursery has expanded vastly and now has around 80 children attending in two sessions daily throughout the week. Our nursery aims to deliver the foundation stage of the National Curriculum as well as providing the first steps towards Islamic education.
A key aspect of the nursery is the environment in which children learn, we have developed a warm caring Islamic environment for children to learn and develop their skills. This is achieved through well planned activities both indoor and outdoor, which are the basis for helping children enjoy learning.
